Splish! Splash! I Was Takin’ A Bath!

A warm bath = instant relaxation.

A warm detox bath = instant relaxation + body cleansing.

A detox bath is one of the easiest ways to help your body’s natural healing and detoxification process. It will encourage the body to flush out toxins, heavy metals, and pesticides while soothing aches and pains.

30 Minutes A Day

Takes The Toxins Away

Rejuvenation is just a bath away… here are some great detox baths:

Salt Detox Bath

  • 1/4 cup Himalayan or Sea salt
  • 1/4 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 10- 15 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of natural vanilla extract (optional)

In large bowl or jar, dissolve the Himalayan or sea salt, epsom salt, and baking soda in boiling water and set aside.

Fill your bath tub with hot water and add the apple cider vinegar.

Add essential oils and/or vanilla extract, if using.

Pour in the salt mixture and soak in the bath for 30 minutes or as long as desired.

This bath is great for overall detoxing and soothing skin irritation.

Magnesium Detox Bath

  • 1-2 cups of Magnesium Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Himalayan or Sea Salt
  • 10- 15 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of natural vanilla extract (optional)

Mix the magnesium flakes and salt together.

Add to a hot bath and soak for 30 minutes or longer.

Add the essential oils and/or vanilla extract, if using.

This bath, like the Salt Detox Bath, is a great overall detoxifier.

Both help with mineral absorption, improve sleep, relieve muscle and joint pain, and improve circulation.

Magnesium, however, is considered the most powerful relaxation mineral available, and many of us are deficient. Adding magnesium to your bath is a great way for your body to absorb this mineral. And the magnesium from magnesium flakes are more easily absorbed into the body than the magnesium from Epsom salts. But of course, both are beneficial. Getting magnesium through the skin is often easier and more usable than taking magnesium in supplement form or from food. Absorbing magnesium through the skin is a great way to deliver this mineral to your body.

Note: If you don’t have time for a bath, but want to get the benefits that magnesium offers, this magnesium oil spray is a perfect solution.

Here is one of the best sites for information on magnesium and they offer some of the purest forms of magnesium that I have found.

Bentonite Clay Detox Bat

Dissolve the Epsom salt in a hot bath.

Then either —

Add the clay to a small amount of water and mix vigorously until the clumps are mostly dissolved.

Use a plastic, glass, or wood, jar and a plastic spoon to mix. DO NOT USE METAL because it will react with the clay.

Add the clay mix to the bath and soak for 30 minutes or more.

Mix the clay with a small amount of water to make a paste.

Stand in the bath tub filled with the hot water and epsom salts.

Rub the clay mix all over your body to create a body mask.

Let dry for about 5 minutes before sitting down in the bath tub.

This allows direct contact with the skin and will immediately start pulling toxins from the skin.

Soak in the bath for 30 minutes or more.

While soaking, use a wash cloth to remove any remaining clay from the skin.

After your bath, you may notice a greenish/black tinge to the clay. This is the waste and toxins from your body.

Note: The clay does not drain with the water so use paper towels to wipe the clay from the tub.

*Bentonite clay is a powerful healing clay. It’s made of weathered and aged volcanic ash from Fort Benton, Wyoming.

Mountain Rose Herbs explains, Bentonite is a swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are boundWhen it comes in contact with a toxin, chemical, or heavy metal, the clay will absorb the toxin and release its minerals for the body to use. Bentonite also helps get oxygen to cells as it pulls excess hydrogen and allows the cells to replace it with oxygen instead.

Oxygen Detox Bath

Fill your bath tub with hot water.

Add both the hydrogen peroxide and the the dried ginger.

Soak in the tub for 30 minutes or longer.

This one is helpful when you’re under the weather. The ginger will help relieve body aches and clear congestion. And the hydrogen peroxide will give you a boost of oxygen.

*Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide is “cleaner” than the usual hydrogen peroxide found in grocery stores as it has no stabilizers.

Additional Detox Notes:

If your bath water has chlorine and/or fluoride, it’s a good idea to add a couple of tablespoons of Bentonite Clay to any of the above baths to absorb the chemicals so that they are not absorbed into your skin.

Due to their detoxification ability, with the exception of the Oxygen Detox Bath, the baths can make you tired and are best taken before going to bed.
